Man found in hotel died of natural causes

The man who was found dead on the grounds of the Downhill House Hotel, Ballina last Thursday died of natural causes. A post mortem was carried out on the body of Mr Michael McDermot by the State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.

The body of the 70-year-old was discovered by hotel staff last week.

The deceased had been an employee of the hotel for over three decades before he retired three years ago. Mr McDermot had continued to live in the staff quarters of the hotel. He was described as a very popular figure among staff.
