Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring, has been informed that representatives of Mayo County Council and officials from the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government and a representative from the EPA met recently to discuss the Belmullet Sewerage Scheme.
The Minister stated: “I understand that the meeting was a very useful exercise regarding the progression of the planning phase for the Belmullet Sewerage Scheme. A number of very important issues were discussed at this meeting, with regard to environmental assessments, the foreshore licence process, and other issues in relation to the Belmullet Sewerage Scheme.
“A lot of talk and a lot of promises have been made before every election about the Belmullet Sewerage Scheme, but no actual progress was made. I intend to progress the Belmullet Sewerage Scheme when there is no election pending.”
