Wonderbra donates 4,000 bras for Mayo bra chain

Mayo Cancer Support Association and Rock Chicks are to embark on the exciting challenge of attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest and highest bra chain. The chain, which must be in excess of 70 miles, will take a massive 120,000 bras to build, 4,000 of which are being donated by bra experts, Wonderbra.

The Irish bra chain began actively pursuing people to donate old bras last May and hopes to hit its target of 120,000 by tomorrow, November 22, when they will hold the official bra chain day at Croagh Patrick.

Speaking about the record attempt, Debbie Rix, UK General Manager, DB Apparel, said: “The Irish bra chain for cancer is a fantastic method of raising badly needed funds for breast cancer patients in the west of Ireland and also for promoting the importance of breast cancer awareness. As soon as we heard about the appeal we jumped on board and are delighted to be helping the association reach their target. Together with the Irish bra chain, Wonderbra urges the women of Ireland to put their old bras to good use and help break the world record.” Cyprus currently holds the record with 114,000 bras.
