Delorentos will launch The Clubhouse into rock history tomorrow night

Tomorrow night Saturday, March 10, sees The Clubhouse at Castlebar Celtic get its official launch party when the brilliant Delorentos will be bringing their Little Sparks Tour to the county town. The aim of Castlebar’s new music venue is to promote some of the best independent local and national original artists and bands over the coming months, with two major international acts to be announced for the independent music venue over the coming weeks. Castlebar’s music scene will be getting a much needed injection and a further lease of life.

Dublin four-piece Delorentos have just released their third album titled Little Sparks which has being gaining rave reviews nationally and internationally. The band have also just release a new single ‘Right To Know’ for the upcoming national tour.

Having established a strong live set up, Delorentos continue to pack out headline dates, on top of shows with Supergrass, The Coral, and a hilltop-tour of Italy. Since 2007 Delorentos have released two critically acclaimed albums; 2007s In Love With Detail, nominated for Best Album at both the Choice Music Prize and the Meteor Awards, and 2009s You Can Make Sound, which as well as hitting number two in the Irish charts won Entertainment.ie’s Album of the Year, and the very recent Little Sparks that does not disappoint. As well as their recording success, Delorentos have always been a touring band, and since 2007 have played extensively in Ireland, as well as the UK, Europe, and North America.

Also on the line-up for the night will be Senakah. It has been four years since front-man Rob Hope from Breaffy in Mayo and Senakah burst onto the Irish music scene, and since then their ascent has been steady and consistent. The four-piece seamlessly hop off one ladder rung and on to the next, garnering accolades and an ever expanding legion of fans along the way. After releasing their debut album Sweeter than Bourbon in 2008 the band re-located to the USA where they played more than 250 shows in a three year period.

Their 2009 tour of the US took in six months and more than 90 shows right across the country including shows at the legendary Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, and The Boulder Theatre in Colorado where they became the first international act to perform at the Bob Dylan Festival, endorsed by the man himself. They also teamed up and performed with keyboard legend Bernie Worrell of Talking Heads and Parliament. Senecha have just released the new single ‘Human Relations’ which has being voted single of the week by 2FM’s Rick O’Shea. And this fantastic line-up does not stop here. We Cut Corners from Dublin who are also on the bill are up for a Meteor Choice music award in the coming days.

Teachers by day and crack commandos of kinetic guitar and drum rock by night, this terrific Dublin duo cook up a brilliant racket on their debut. Conall Ó Breacháin and John Duignan let fly with great volleys of drums and sharp-edged guitar.

This promises to be a great night of original independent music with two other local Castlebar bands on the bill, Social Welfare who have recently released the single ‘Home’ for charity, and New Sunset Hotel who have a new album coming out in the next few months. Tickets are available now through Downtown Records in Castlebar.
