The roll-out of gas in Ballinrobe is to be delayed by a few months, Bord Gáis informed local councillors this week.
In October Bord Gáis made a presentation to the Ballinrobe electoral area committee in which they said they hoped to have gas flowing in the town as early as March or April of next year.
But the company have now said it is unlikely that works will commence before the end of the year and they will take five months from once the contractor begins.
Bord Gáis is continuing to engage with potential commercial customers and developers in Ballinrobe and feedback has been positive.
The company is also negotiating the construction contract following the tender process; however, construction is dependent on identification of the loads within the town.
