A Ballinrobe area councillor has called for balance in the drafting of the new Traveller accommodation plan for the county.
Cllr Damien Ryan told a meeting of the Ballinrobe electoral area committee on Monday that Ballinrobe and Ballina have been “significant areas for Traveller accommodation”.
While, he said, they were not reneging on their social obligations, they were calling for balance in the drafting of the new plan and he called on every electoral area to step up to their social responsibilities.
“I have no problem supporting a balanced plan with even dispersal throughout the county,” he added.
