Taoiseach to visit Ballina school to present Sean Lemass Award

An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny will visit St Mary's Secondary School, Ballina, on Monday next (February 27 ) to present the Sean Lemass Award for Enterprise, as part of the Transition Year Mini Company Get Up and Go National Final.

The transition year enterprise class beat off stiff competition from across the country to win the national title for their healthy eating programme, ‘Reflect, Eat Yourself Healthy’. This innovative programme encouraged healthy lifestyle and diet among young people.

Principal Patsy Sweeney said: “I am delighted to welcome Taoiseach Enda Kenny to St Mary's. This is due recognition for our transition year students, especially our enterprise class, led by teacher Niamh Daly.

“St Mary's has a long tradition of enterprise successes and it is fantastic to have this recognised officially by our very own Mayo Taoiseach."

Teacher Niamh Daly added: "I am so proud of the students. They are a hard-working group and their innovation and dedication to this project has paid off. It is a huge achievement.”

The Taoiseach will visit the school at lunchtime on Monday to present the award and certificates.
