Castlebar businesses brand their ‘quarter’ of town

Castlebar Quarter Shopping is the new name for the 24-strong group of retailers in Castlebar’s Hopkins Road and Lannagh Road area who have come together to brand their side of town in an effort to set Castlebar as the premier shopping destination of the west.

Landlords Cavendish Lane Properties Ltd are behind this initiative and have employed Loughran Marketing Communications to develop and market a distinct shopping destination for this group of retailers. Cavendish Lane Properties Ltd and Loughran Marketing Communications stated that the vision is to establish the area as the destination of choice for shoppers in the region. They believe that the promotion of the area in the run-up to Christmas and as planned for 2009 will help bring in more shoppers and that this will be a good thing not only for the retailers of Castlebar Quarter Shopping but for the town as a whole.

Despite the credit crunch shoppers continue to come to the area for their dose of retail therapy. Colm Hynes of Hynes Shoes remarked: “The area has it all and the slogan for the area – ‘Take centre stage’ – sums up being spoilt for choice with the diversity and quality of retailers in the Quarter and the value that they offer.”

Tracy Flannigan of Next added: “And with the Theatre Royal and Days Hotel on our doorstep, combined with plentiful parking, cafes, restaurants and mix of loved Irish brands, there is something for everyone here.”

Castlebar Quarter Shopping is home to Apache Pizza, Argos, A Wear, BR2, Edge, Elverys, Homebase, Hynes Shoes, James Murtagh Jewellers, Link Pharmacy, McLoughlins, Name It, New Look, Next, O'Brien’s Sandwich Bar, Paco, Peter Mark, Regina Livingstones Hairdressers, Sanzio, Specsavers, Staunton’s Ophthalmic Opticians, UFO, Urbana and Yasmine G.
