What a Few Can Do is a photographic exhibition by Dublin-based photographer, Elaine Harvey. The exhibition is showing in Mayo County Library, Castlebar until Friday November 28.
The exhibition shows the scale, variety and value of missionary work in Tanzania and Kenya today. It takes a photojournalistic look at the work of the missionaries and how they respond to the needs of the local communities. The exhibition looks at how their commitment and faith brings hope as well as sustenance. It shows how a small group of dedicated people with the much-needed support from people at home can have a far-reaching and long-lasting effect on the lives of developing communities.
Elaine received her BA in photography from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology in 2005 and was winner of the people category and overall winner of the ICI Imagedata Student Digital Photographer of the Year Award 2004 (Ireland and UK ).
