Grant aid and support for start-ups and small businesses in south Mayo

South West Mayo Development Company will be presenting its range of grant aid and business supports in Claremorris (McWilliam Park Hotel ) and Ballinrobe (The Valkenburg ) on February 20 and 22.

The evening sessions from 8pm – 9.30pm will provide detail and one-to-one advice to those considering starting a business or expanding their current enterprise.

With a wide-range of business services and products in its client-base, South West Mayo Development Company will be showcasing some of the agricultural diversification projects it has supported at the upcoming events.

Lorraine Toner of South West Mayo Development Company said: “Our funding is available for various types of project – from tourism to business services and new products. Recently we have supported some very successful projects which have sprung from agricultural backgrounds, on-farm enterprises such as arts and craft, renewable energy, and tourism facilities and amenities. Often people don’t realise the potential of their farm, by utilising current assets they can create a new enterprise or build on a current one.”

In addition to funding supports, SWMDC also provides access to training and mentoring for start-ups and small businesses and recently held weekend business clinics with specialist mentors in accounting, marketing, PR, exporting, and strategy.

All are welcome, and project officers from SWMDC will be available at all events for one-to-one consultations regarding funding and supports available. For more information, visit www.southmayo.com or call 098 41950.
