Expansion for Castlebar Irish summer college

Coláiste Néifinn is a newly founded Irish summer college in Castlebar for 12 to 18-year-olds. This college aims to bring life to our native language outside the Gaeltacht. The co-ordinators are two local Irish teachers and they will be assisted by experienced teachers from other schools. All the teachers have taught in several Gaeltacht colleges and bring a lot of experience to Coláiste Néifinn.

From 2012 onwards students will receive 40 per cent of the total marks in Irish for their oral Irish examination. This is an exciting prospect for all Irish enthusiasts. According to the organisers, the best way to learn a language is to be actively involved in it in a fun way.

Classes, sports, music, dancing, a tour and other activities will feature in the college and the days will be action packed from 10am to 5pm.

The college is extremely affordable. An enrolment night will take place in the Harlequin Hotel on Friday February 24 at 7pm. If you enrol on or before this date, the course will be offered at a reduced rate of €230. A deposit of €50 is required to secure a place. This coláiste promises to give a very positive outlook in speaking as Gaeilge.

Due to popular demand there will be two courses run in Castlebar and one course in Glenamaddy.
