Payments under the 2008 Suckler Welfare Scheme will began this week, according to Mayo Fianna Fáil Senator and government spokesperson on agriculture in Seanad Éireann, John Carty.
“The payments of €80 per cow will continue on a rolling basis for calves born in 2008 as additional animals become eligible,” explained Senator Carty.
Payments will begin now and continue into 2009. Eligible farmers should complete and return their forms, either on paper or online, as soon as possible, to ensure speedy process and payment.
“The Minister for Agriculture has assured me that his Department are now issuing letters to farmers where there are any queries and that every effort is being made to clear outstanding cases. Any farmers in Mayo who need clarification or have any queries should phone the lo-call number 1890 252 707,” concluded Sen Carty.
