The Food Safety Authority of Ireland reported that four Closure Orders were served on food businesses during the month of January for breaches in food safety legislation, pursuant to the FSAI Act, 1998 and the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs ) Regulations, 2010. One of these Enforcement Orders was served on Knox Street Bistro, Knox Street, Ballyhaunis, Mayo.
Commenting, Prof Alan Reilly, chief executive FSAI, said: “It is a food business operator’s legal responsibility to take the necessary steps to ensure that the food they serve and sell to their customers is safe to eat. There is no excuse for shoddy practices. If any food business operator is unsure of what is required of them by law, they can contact our advice line (1890 336677 ) or visit our website www.fsai.ie”
