Mayo TD and Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring has confirmed €15.6 million in funding for new road projects in Mayo.
Some €1.56 million has been allocated to five projects in the county for larger works under the specific improvements scheme. A further €190,000 has been allocated to eight projects in Mayo for low cost safety improvement works on regional and local roads.
The minister also confirmed a restoration improvement grant of €9.89 million, along with a restoration maintenance grant of €3.96 million for road surfaces.
“I’m delighted to be able to announce this funding. In these difficult times it’s important to maintain our roads network, which is the lifeblood of our county. When funding is so limited, it’s important that the Government is doing its utmost to maintain our roads.”
Minister Ring said: “These projects will benefit local residents and businesses, as well as visitors to the county. Each funding scheme is being allocated as part of a broader national scheme. Each project will also help to create and sustain jobs.”
