Three Mayo community groups have been selected by their local EBS office to receive €500 in funding — Cairde Cran Mor; Ballina Rugby Football Club; and Castlebar RFC.
In addition, Cairde Cran Mor has also been short-listed to be in with a chance of winning the overall EBS National Community Fund prize of €10,000.
Cairde Cran Mor is all about caring for adults with special needs. This service means local families benefit as their family member is collected every morning and taken to the centre where he/she is cared for until 4pm. Here they have a meal and are involved in activities and games. Cairde Cran Mor also provides group homes where some are able to live after their parents have passed away. This group facilitates adults with special needs to stay in their homes and in the local community.
The overall winner of the EBS Community Fund will be selected by the general public through an online vote at www.ebs.ie . Votes will be accepted up until the March 5.
