The takeover of the Churchfield estate in Shrule is nearing completion, the February meeting of the Claremorris Electoral Area Committee was informed this week. Cllr Patsy O’Brien had a notice of motion down at the meeting calling for the council to finalise it. Padraig Flanagan, senior executive officer for Mayo County Council, informed the meeting that the developer had applied last July for the takeover and there was only one outstanding issue, in relation to a boundary wall, that had to be complied with before it could move ahead.
