The highly anticipated Westport Town Hall project is set to commence in the next couple of months, local area councillors were informed this week
Negotiations with the preferred tenderer are at an advanced stage according to Martin Keating, Senior Executive Officer.
A LEADER application has been approved and it is hoped that a Fáilte Ireland funding application will also be approved. More than one million euro has been raised locally and Westport Town Council along with Mayo County Council have each pledged half a million euro to the project.
Regarding the issue of moving the civic offices to the Convent, it is hoped that it will go through a Part 8 this year and that works will commence in 2013, members were told.
