Folk singer Noriana Kennedy, one for the diary

Folk singer Noriana Kennedy is joined by fellow musicians Nicola Joyce and Noelie McDonnell for a great night of Irish and American folk music at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Tuesday, February 14 at 8pm.

Noriana Kennedy has been an in-demand folk singer and musician in Galway for more than five years, and is beginning to generate a buzz nationally with her debut album Ebb ‘N’Flow. Her musical career began in 2005 as lead singer of Irish contemporary trad band Nábac. The five-piece performed regularly in Ireland’s well known folk venues and at music festivals, and their spirited performances saw them tour in Austria, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Denmark.

Ebb ‘N’ Flow is a fresh exploration of the links between Irish and Appalachian folk music, her pristine voice taking the audience from cruel wars to kind love, from New England to Waterford, and a thousand heartworn places in between. Graced by the warm stage presence, Noriana will be joined on the night by two fellow Galway musicians, percussionist/mandolin player and harmony singer Nicola Joyce and singer/songwriter Noelie McDonnell, to weave a beguiling tapestry of Irish and American folk music. What better for a Valentine’s Night out?

The Linenhall Gallery is open to the general public Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm; Saturday from 11am to 5.30pm. Admission to exhibitions is free. Further details from the Linenhall. Tel: 094 9023733 Website: www.thelinenhall.com
