Man wanted to go to garda station so he could go to bed

A drunk man who, after being threatening and abusive to gardaí, asked them if they could bring him back to the garda station so that he could go to bed for the night, was before Ballina District Court on Tuesday.

On October 15 2011 a member of the public made a complaint to Ballina Garda Station to report that there was an incident taking place at Tyrawley Terrace involving a number of men.

Gardaí observed James Ward, 21 Dolmen View in the street, his T-shirt was ripped and he was intoxicated. Ward was abusive to gardaí and refused to leave the area when directed.

Ward (18 ) has no previous convictions and had been attending a house party that night.

For being threatening and abusive he was convicted and fined €250 by Judge Mary Devins.
