The mayor of Castlebar, Cllr Eugene McCormack, has said he is very happy about the success of the new bridge across Lough Lannagh.
The bridge, which is a central part of the river walk scheme, is proving to be very popular with walkers since it was opened a few weeks ago.
The addition of the bridge completed the loop and walkers can now experience the full extent of the beautiful scenic route that Lough Lannagh has to offer. The fact that the bridge is lit up adds to the atmosphere in the evenings and is a further reason for the large numbers of people using the facility. Cllr McCormack went on to say that the allocation of €950,000 to further develop the walk out towards Islandeady and on to the Greenway at Kilmeena is a very positive development and will further enhance this amenity in the future.
