Suspended sentence revoked for Castlebar woman

A woman who according to Judge Mary Devins “operates in a parallel universe” had her suspended sentence revoked at this week’s sitting of Castlebar District Court.

Winnie McDonagh (Winnie Reilly ) 14 Castlegrove, Castlebar, had appeared before the last sitting of the district court in relation to a litany of charges relating to theft and also dangerous driving charges in the Castlebar area. McDonagh had a suspended three month sentence imposed on her by Judge Mary Devins and therefore Judge Denis McLoughlin remanded her to this week’s sitting of Castlebar District Court in order for the suspended sentence to be dealt with. Judge Devins revoked the suspended sentence.

McDonagh also faced three littering charges at Wednesday’s court. The court heard that the offences occurred on January 13, February 10, and May 12 2011, when on these occasions the defendant had left extensive litter outside her home. McDonagh was convicted and fined €1,000 and ordered to pay costs of €750.
