Ballina could very soon have its own tourism smart phone app to promote tourism in the town.
Independent councillor Mary Kelly at the reconvened budget meeting of Ballina Town Council suggested the idea. Cllr Kelly told the meeting that part of the tourism and promotion budget could be set aside for the development of such an app. She told the meeting she had done some research into the development of an app for smart phones ant it could be done for between €5,000 and €5,500. She said the app would be able to guide people who downloaded it around the town and list its historical sites and point them in the direction of points of interest and local businesses. Cllr Kelly’s idea was supported by the rest of her colleagues on the council.
