Following the “brilliant news” that Allergan is investing millions of euro in Westport, Cathaoirleach of Westport Town Council, Councillor Christy Hyland, said the town is “bucking the national trend”.
The Cathaoirleach made his comments at the town’s budget meeting. “At a time where there is a very severe lack of confidence in this country” this news is bringing a “confidence” into the town, he said. Cllr Myles Staunton said that the Allergan announcement led to “one of the most momentous weeks” in the town’s history. Cllr Brendan Mulroy said this positive news is sending out the message “that this town is open for business.”
Current employee of Allergan Cllr Ollie Gannon said that the “euphoria” among Allergan staff this week was “unbelievable”.
