A female shop assistant was subjected to a terrifying ordeal last Sunday night (January 15 ) at 9.40pm in the Top Oil Service Station, Ballina, after two masked raiders entered the premises and confronted the woman. One of the raiders was carrying a knife.
The assistant was tied up and the raiders took €1,000 from a cash office in the store before fleeing the scene. The woman managed to free herself and raise the alarm.
Gardaí in Ballina are carrying out investigations and anyone who was in Top Oil that day, particularly from 9pm onwards, and who observed any suspicious activity or any persons or vehicles in the vicinity, is asked to contact Ballina Garda Station on 096 21422.
