Mayo General Hospital would like to thank the public for their co-operation during the recent visiting restrictions which were in place at the hospital due to the presence of suspected Norovirus (winter vomiting bug ).
The official visiting hours have now resumed and visitors are welcome between 2pm and 4pm and from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
A spokesperson for the hospital said: “We are pleased to advise that visiting may resume during normal visiting hours. We will remain vigilant while there is an increased incidence of vomiting and diarrhoea illness in the community, and we request that visitors only come to the hospital during official visiting times. We would encourage the public with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea to contact their GP or GP out-of-hours service in the first instance and not to attend the emergency department unless absolutely necessary.”
