A 25-year-old man was convicted and fined at Ballina District Court this week for the possession of cannabis.
Keith Walsh, 73 Greenhills Estate, Ballina, was observed by Garda Noel Crinnegan to run away as the patrol van came near him on the Bunree Road on September 15 2011 at 12.55pm. Garda Crinnegan gave chase and the defendant was searched where €7.68 worth of cannabis resin was found on his person.
Walsh has two previous convictions.
Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined him €150.
