Minister for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring has welcomed the announcement by Minister Frances Fitzgerald of the allocation of €14,000 to Stepping Stones Playgroup, St Colman’s Community Playgroup, Dalton Street, Claremorris.
This funding comes under the 2011 National Lottery allocations.
The funding approved is to update the playgroup’s facilities and to develop an outdoor play area.
Minister Ring stated: “Playgroups such as Stepping Stones are important in our communities. They carry our tremendous work and I would like to compliment all the staff involved in this facility. Hopefully, this funding will be of some help to this playgroup.”
Mayo Fine Gael TD, John O’Mahony, also welcomed the allocation.
“The money will go towards improvement of facilities at the Playgroup and the news is a huge boost for all connected with the organisation. Teresa Fahy and her colleagues at Stepping Stones carry out very important work in the community and this money will be of immense benefit to all concerned. I’m delighted to have been able to play my role in securing this money and I know that it will be put to extremely good use,” he said.
