The overall winner in the ‘Fuinneog na Nollag 2011 – Shop Window Competition’ which was part of the Croí na Nollag Castlebar Shopping Festival was The Mood Gallery, situated on Main Street, followed by Sanzio on Hopkins Road in second place, with a tie in third place between The Upper Crust of Bridge Street and Mandel's Art Shop of Main Street.
“Gnó Mhaigh Eo were really delighted with the response from the Castlebar businesses and with their use of Irish. We hope that this is just the first step and that it will encourage businesses to think about using Irish in their window displays and shopfronts on a more permanent basis.” said Anna Ni Chárthaigh, príomhfheidhmeannach Ghnó Mhaigh Eo.
Gnó Mhaigh Eo plans to run an information clinic for all businesses in Castlebar in the New Year to provide information on the 50:50 funding support grants available from Foras na Gaeilge for SMEs. These schemes consist of the new or replacement business signage scheme (up to €1,500 ) and the bilingual business materials scheme (up to €1,000 )/
For further information on these funding schemes refer to Foras na Gaeilge’s website www.gaeilge.ie under the Gnó Means Business section.
