Ballinrobe Community School puts on performance of Footloose

In these dark cold days of winter it is good to be able to look forward to a cracking spectacle of music, fun, and dance. The transition year students of Ballinrobe Community School are providing the opportunity to forget about the doom and gloom with their sparkling production of Footloose. They will put on two performances this weekend, tonight Friday December 16 at 8pm and tomorrow Saturday December 17 at 8.30pm in the school hall.

This classic show, full of dancing, colourful costumes, and teenage angst is brought to life through well known musical numbers such as ‘Holding Out for a Hero’, ‘Let’s Hear it for the Boy’, ‘Footloose’, and many more.

Rehearsals, which have been ongoing for several weeks, have seen new terrific talent emerge. All the transition year students are involved in the production, whether on stage or backstage, and the chorus is joined by the junior choir to bring the music to life. This transition year project maintains the solid tradition that Ballinrobe Community School has for staging first class musicals.

The school gets very generous sponsorship from the business people of Ballinrobe and from its suppliers to help defray the costs of the production. The main sponsor for the musical this year is Costello and McDermott, Ballinrobe.
