Car involved in an accident had two bald front tyres

A man who was involved in a two vehicle accident was convicted and fined at Castlebar District Court this week.

On June 1 2011 gardaí attended a traffic accident at Islandeady at 4.55pm. A car had pulled out in front of the car of Brian Joyce, Keelogues, Ballyvary. Both cars were removed from the scene and were examined by gardaí. Two bald tyres were detected on Joyce’s car.

The court heard that the car was not Joyce’s but his brother’s, who lives in Dublin and does not use the car often. The defendant did not know that the tyres were bald. Joyce has no previous convictions.

Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined him €50 in respect of each tyre.
