Swinford gardaí urge people to get a grip

Gardaí in Swinford are taking a proactive approach to pedestrian safety this coming winter. In doing so, they hope to prevent slips and falls, and the subsequent difficulties which ensue as a result.

During last winter many people encountered fractured and sprained limbs, many of which could have been avoided. In launching their winter safety campaign, called, Get A Grip This Winter, they are encouraging the use of snow grips, which are easy to wear protection for shoes and boots.

The campaign was launched on Monday November 21 in Breaffy GAA Centre by Deputy John O'Mahony, Superintendent Ronan Galligan, Garda Anne-Marie Duffy, Sgt Tony Cosgrove, and pharmacist James Geraghty of Molloy’s Pharmacy which sponsored the snow grips to the Swinford Active Retirement Group.
