Works at the roundabout beside Tesco in Castlebar have been welcomed this week by Sinn Fein councillor Therese Ruane.
“This roundabout has been a safety hazard since it was put in place. The centre was too narrow and it was outright dangerous and I have raised this many times with the council. Over the years, I have been inundated with complaints. It's really welcome that finally this matter is being dealt with and work has begun to make it safe and efficient for people to use,” she said.
