Metal at the Clubhouse to bring the walls down tomorrow night

An evening of metal and doom will be descending on The Clubhouse in Castlebar Celtic tomorrow night Saturday, December 3. Next in a series of fundraisers for the 2012 Castlebar Music Festival is Metal at the Clubhouse and you will see some of the finest purveyors of heavy music in the west of Ireland descend on Castlebar for a night of metal-mayhem. For only €10, disciples of rock will be entertained by six bands, spanning various sub-genres of heavy metal.

Headlining on the night are Ilenkus, from Galway. Formed in 2010, and described by Drop-D magazine as “majestic post-metal” and listed in The Irish Times as “one of Galway’s top acts”, Ilenkus have quickly stamped their mark on the Irish metal scene with the September 2011 release of their debut album Rule by Thieves.

Also appearing on the night are Gargantuan (death metal ) from Enniskillen, Vagrants (hardcore/punk ) from Galway, Weed Priest (occult doom ) from Galway/Ennis, Traitor (prog/thrash ) from Westport, and Morningrise (progressive metal ) from Castlebar.

Headline act Ilenkus were formed in 2010 from the embers of their previous band FUBAR, Ilenkus have stamped their mark on the Irish metal scene ever since, thus far they have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with such international acts as The Ocean and Rolo Tomassi, while playing shows with a host of talented Irish bands, including Only Fumes and Corpses, Five Will Die, Rites, Trenches, Shardborne, Axis Of, Gacys Threads, C!ties, and Murdock. This promises to be a night of dark intensity, kicking off the festive season in raucous style. Doors on the night 8pm, first band on stage 8.30pm. There will be drinks promotions on the night, so as usual, this is over 18s only (ID required ). Definitely not for the faint of heart.
