Musicians, singers, and dancers from many parts of the country will travel to join local performers for a weekend of traditional music, song, and dance in memory of Pearse Holmes, at Trá Bhuí, Dú Thuama.
The weekend starts on Friday evening December 2 at 8pm with an informal seisiún ceoil with local and visiting musicians. On Saturday December 3 at 3pm there is a sean nós dancing workshop with Emma O’Sullivan. This will be followed by a short lecture by Mattie Joe Sheamus, on the roll of traditional music, song, and dance in rural communities. From 9pm onwards there will be a night of music, song, and dance.
On Sunday at 12.30pm the afternoon will start with Seisiún na nÓg, which will feature young musicians from the local area. The weekend will conclude with a Slan Abhaile seisiún continuing into the evening.
Visiting artists will include: Pat O’Toole, Rosie Stewart, Sean Mulcrone, Padraig mac Donnacha, Treasa Tearney, Maire Nee, Emma O Sullivan, Mattie Joe Sheamus, Marie McHugh, Paddy Fitz, Padraig Drew, Des Hollaran, and many more.
