Having spent six weeks in studio working on their third album Closer To You, The Coronas are embarking on a campaign that will take them through to next year, but not without stopping off at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar for what should be an outstanding gig on St Stephen’s Night 2011.
The Meteor Award winning Coronas made up of Danny O’Reilly, Graham Knox, Conor Egan, and Dave McPhillips are really proud of the first single from their new album, the infectious ‘Addicted to Progress’, however it is only one of their favourites. It is a poppy, dancy, catchy track but there is more, even better stuff on the album. Lots of which will be on the set list for the gig at the Royal Theatre. One track, ‘The blind leading the blind’ of which they are particularly proud, is all about wanting to make it, fearing they won’t and trying to convince themselves that they can do it.
This platinum-selling four piece have established themselves as one of Ireland’s biggest bands and are now taking their place on the world stage. Their high energy live shows have made them one of the country's most popular concert attractions, selling out their biggest ever headline concert in Marley Park to more than 7,000 fans.
The New York Post listed The Coronas as one of the top 10 Artists To Know In 2011, and they have proved them right. Having previously played as supporting act to The Script in 2009 at The Royal Theatre, it is fantastic to see how far they have come, and now return to bring 2011 to a close by headlining their own gig, supported by two fantastic up and coming rock bands, 21 Outs from Ballina, and The Kanyu Tree from Galway.
The gig on St Stephen’s Night should be the gig of the year, do not miss it.
