The uneven ages cross country championships were held in Ballinamore, Co Leitrim, last weekend. Bridget Mills was in great form and won an individual bronze medal for her efforts in the u11 girls’ race and gold with Mayo Intercounties team. Caoimhe Loftus also won gold with the Mayo team. The u11 girls’ team of Bridget Mills, Caoimhe Loftus, Grace Murray, Emily Murray, Finola Collins, and Aoife Egan finished in second place overall in the team event. Bridget and Caoimhe qualified as members of the Connacht team also for the National championships. Grace qualified as a member of the Mayo Intercounties team.
In the u11 boys’ competition Peter Timlim qualified for the National championships as a member of the Mayo Intercounties team. Emma Loftus ran a brilliant race in the u13 competition and won a silver medal when she finished in second place overall. She will compete as a member of the Mayo Intercounties team and the Connacht team in the National championships. Alanna Herr also qualified as a member of the Mayo team.
Patrick Mills will compete on the Mayo u13 boys’ team in the All Ireland championships. Anthony Neville won a gold medal as a member of the u15 boys’ Mayo Intercounties team. Cian Mulrooney continues to improve and won a bronze medal in the u17 boys’ competiton. Cian will also be part of the Connacht team for the All Ireland championships as will Ciaran Treacy. Hugh Armstrong ran a great race in the u19 boys’ race finishing in first place and taking home the Connacht title. His team mate Jonathan Dean finished just behind to take home individual silver. The All Ireland uneven ages cross country championships takes place in the Curragh on December 11.
