A 19-year-old man who stole a €10 shirt while he was drunk was before Ballina District Court on Tuesday.
Charles Collins, 68 Riverside Drive, Ballina removed a shirt from Heatons, Ballina, on April 29 2011. Security staff from the store stopped Collins and gardaí were called.
The defendant has no previous theft convictions.
Judge Mary Devins told Collins “to pop down to Heatons” and give €10 towards the staff’s Christmas party fund. The judge adjourned the matter to December 13 to see if the money is paid — if done, the judge will apply the Probation Act.
