Scarlet is a new ladies’ fashion shop with a difference opened recently on Main Street Castlebar, just across from Leo Doherty menswear. In fact, Scarlet is an extension of Leo Doherty menswear as part of its new move into ladies’ quality fashion labels.
Run by Leo’s sons, Peter and Leo, and Peter’s wife Sarah, Scarlet now provides a mirror image of fashionable fare for the ladies, offering the same top labels.
“All the big brand names - Tommy Hilfiger, Gant, Pepe Jeans, Levis, Polo, Ralph Lauren, Lacoste etc, we’ve been doing their range for men for years and years, but they also do these labels in ladies wear and equally successfully; so we just saw an opportunity where we could do those brands at time when rental property is very keen, and saw it as a good time to open and for the business to expand that particular concept. There is no other ladies fashion shop like it in Connaught, where you have all the brands under one roof. Since we opened in September trading has been excellent, ladies absolutely love the store, because it’s different and means they can get their brands and jeans they want here in Castlebar instead of having to travel to Dublin and Galway”, said Leo (sr ).
