Alzheimer Society launches ribbon campaign

Share a treasured memory of someone special in your life, this is the message from The Alzheimer Society of Ireland as it launches its annual Christmas Memory Ribbon Campaign.

Due to people living longer it is predicted that the number of people with dementia will increase from a current total of 44,000 to over 104,000 by 2036. Currently in Mayo there are 1,200 people living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Demand for the services provided by The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland, which includes day care, respite, and home care, remains at an all time high with waiting lists of almost 1,000 families nationwide.
