“Serious antisocial behaviour” which is occurring in a local authority house in the Westport area is being dealt with, according to housing officer for the area Martin Keating.
Councillor Peter Flynn brought up this issue at the electoral area meeting on Monday. Cllr Flynn said that “serious antisocial behaviour” is taking place in one council house in Westport town and “I’m curious as to how this is being dealt with as it is beyond a joke.”
Mr Keating said that there are antisocial behaviour policies in place, however “this case is complicated” by the fact that the antisocial behaviour “is not principally from the tenant” but from those who are visiting.
Mr Keating said that the case “is being taken very seriously” and staff are taking a lot of time and effort in an attempt to resolve it. The housing officer said there was a review of the matter last week with the council’s legal advisor, and a new approach will be taken in order to progress the problem.
