The Killala Sewerage Scheme, Network and Wastewater Treatment Plant contract is included in the Department for the Environment, Community and Local Government’s Water Investment Programme 2010-12.
The news was confirmed to Fianna Fáil TD Dara Calleary in response to a Dáil Question put down by the Mayo Deputy last week.
“€5.1 million was sanctioned for the provision of the Killala Sewerage Scheme, Network and Wastewater Treatment Plant in 2010 by the previous Government and, having raised the matter in the Dáil Chamber last week, I am pleased that the Minister for the Environment has confirmed that the project remains on the Department’s Water Services Investment Programme 2010-12 to start construction in the period of the programme,” said Deputy Calleary.
“I understand the foreshore licence for the Killala Sewerage Scheme has been granted and the Chief State Solicitor’s Office issued the necessary legal documents to Mayo County Council’s legal advisors on 20 June 2011 for execution. I will be pursuing this matter with the Department until it reaches a satisfactory outcome,” he said.
