A 25-year-old married father of two was tragically killed on Wednesday morning in a single vehicle accident at Belcarra, just outside Castlebar.
Brian Keane, Weatherfort, Clogher, Claremorris and late of Skirdagh, Newport, was believed to be travelling to work at Elvery’s Sports Castlebar when the accident occurred at 7am. It is understood that the car skidded and hit a wall.
Mr Keane was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to Mayo General Hospital where a post-mortem examination was carried out.
A section of the road was closed off on Wednesday as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examined the scene.
Mr Keane’s funeral takes place today (Friday ) at 3pm in St Patrick’s Church, Newport, followed by burial in Burrishoole Cemetery.
