Cardiowave+ is based on 30 years of research by Dr Louis Ignarro, professor of pharmacology at UCLA, who received the Nobel Prize in 1998 for his work on cardiovascular health, and it is now available at Staunton’s Healthlinks, Castlebar.
Dr Ignarro discovered that nitric oxide, a molecule produced naturally in the body, is a vasodilator that helps control the flow of blood to every part of the body. He demonstrated how nitric oxide regulates blood flow, prevents blood clots and protects against vascular plaque, or hardening of the arteries as we know it. Combining his own research with fellow scientists in the UK who had studied the mechanism of this nitric oxide production, he demonstrated how oral administration of the amino acid L-arginine could boost the body’s production of nitric oxide. It was this discovery that led to the creation and formulation of Cardiowave+.
