Proving education is still key, some 330 students are to be conferred with awards at the GMIT graduation ceremony in Castlebar today (Friday November 4 ) with awards for degree and Higher Cert programmes in Business and ICT, Nursing & Health Sciences, Outdoor Education and Tourism.
“It is fantastic to see the large numbers obtaining higher education awards from Higher Certificates to Doctorate level”, said GMIT Registrar Michael Hannon, adding: “Third-level education is the best chance young people and indeed
this country has of beating the recession. Research shows that graduates
with a third-level qualification are more employable and more
entrepreneurial. The skills and competencies gained are adaptable and
transferable and have proven to be what employers are looking for.”
