It has been almost two years since Adebisi Shank last played Castlebar. Since then the band have released their second album titled This is the second album of a band called Adebisi Shank and have just recently signed to the famous Sargent House record label in the USA, home to such greats as Fang Island and Tera Melos.
Cast Of Cheers unleashed a ballsy post-punk racket that is every bit as impressive as their moniker. Describing themselves as sounding "like the end of the world and dancing", the band have decided to offer their superb debut album Chariot for free. A raucous assault of angular riffs and insistent vocals, it is what Death From Above 1979 might sound like if they were trapped in a lift with Battles and Foals. Get there early and jump around to these guys. Lafaro who are also on the bill, have just released their new album Easy Meat.
It is useless to fight LaFaro if you are attacked. If they have you between their jaws they will not let go. If you do decide to put up a fight, LaFaro are likely to do a death roll. Polar opposite to the delicate poise of the influential jazz bassist Scott LaFaro, from which this Belfast quartet take their name, LaFaro are a wrecking ball of a band. Their rhythmic post-hardcore is designed to pulverise dance floors and leave no bottle of beer undrunk - this is music as it should be. Also on the night expect to see Tuam’s finest So Cow bring his blend of bubblegum pop/rock. First band We Come in Pieces from Limerick will start the night’s proceedings at 8.30pm sharp. Loads of prizes for best dressed and lots of drink promotions on the night and don’t forget The Michael Jackson Dance Off.
