Councillor calls for pedestrian access for Ard Clar estate

Local independent councillor Richard Finn has called on the council to include in the 2012 budget, funding for the upgrade of the access from the town centre railway bridge to Ard Clar Estate.

The councillor who raised the matter in a notice of motion submitted to the local Claremorris area meeting, stated that a small amount of funding would suffice to provide a proper surface and public lighting. This pedestrian access provides a short cut from the Old Ballindine Road to the town centre he insisted.

Tom Feerick, area engineer, stated that he would investigate the ownership of this walkway and consider Cllr Finn’s request. “I am happy with that for the moment,” commented Cllr Finn.
