Mayo companies continue to be assisted by Údarás

Údarás na Gaeltachta, the regional development authority, continued to support Mayo businesses and projects throughout 2010, with 601 full-time employment positions in assisted companies supported during the year, according to the newly published Údarás na Gaeltachta 2010 Annual Report.

In Mayo, 15 projects had assistance approved in 2010. Capital grants were given of €367,200, €72,000 in employment grants and €258,432 in other grants. Projected extra employment in Mayo was for 45 people.

Grants paid during 2010 for small projects helped 17 Mayo businesses. Grants totalling €296,806 were paid during 2010, with €4,794,692 paid to the end of the year.

Total grants approved in 2010 for 10 subsidiary and associated companies operating in the Mayo Gaeltacht approved during 2010 amounted to €6,744,123; €264,267 was paid and €5,455,081 grants were paid to the end of 2010.

Share investments made by An t-Údarás in Mayo were made to the Feirm Mara Oilean Acla Teo in Bun an Churraigh, with a €300,000 investment.

Ten large industries operating in the Mayo Gaeltacht were also funded, with €7,399,874 worth of grants approved; €571,018 paid and €5,462,440 paid to the end of 2010.

Seventeen small projects received grant assistance — €1,476,060 total grants approved, €296,806 grants paid in 2010 and total grants paid to the end of 2010 amounted to €1,197,474.

Four Mayo community co-operative/companies were also in receipt of administration grants. €100,000 was paid to Comhlacht Forbartha Aitiuil Acla Teo; €49,500 to Comhar Dun Chaochain Teo; €55,000 to Comharchumann Ionad Deirbhile Teo, and €30,000 to Coiste Cultur Teanga agus Forbartha Thuar Mhic Eadaigh Teo.
