It’s RoolaBoola time again in Castlebar

RoolaBoola, the Linenhall Arts Centre’s annual arts funfest, is back for young people of all ages and their families over the coming October Bank Holiday weekend, from Saturday October 29 to Monday October 31.

This year there is a real emphasis on participation, and even the shows are getting in on the act. Fun-loving six-piece traditional group and RTÉ Junior regulars The Speks will be making the trip to the Linenhall from their home on Glasses Island for two very special concerts for three to five-year-olds on Saturday October 29 at 11.30am and 2.30pm. Expect a show full of sing-along songs, dancing and more, fun guaranteed.

The Paper Princess invites three-year-olds and up to a party on Sunday October 30 at 11am and 1pm where the young participants can watch a puppet show and make their own prince or princess during the performance.

On Sunday October at 3pm, actor and Killinascully regular Louis Lovett will be asking the question How Do Actors Play? and showing children seven years and up and their families how to discover and develop their acting talents through the spirit of play.

And of course there are a whole lot of workshops, drop-in events, exhibitions, and more, over the weekend for small hands and big imaginations. So whether it is creating comic strips or pop-up art, learning to act, life-size drawing or designing your own special dreamhouse, RoolaBoola is for you. And the last of the tickets are booking now.

Booking for workshops is essential. See programme for full details, available from The Linenhall. Booking: 094 9028886. Website: www.thelinenhall.com
