The closing date for the sixth annual Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards is fast approaching and all second-level students who volunteer in their community, at school, or abroad are encouraged to submit their applications to their school principal by October 26.
The Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards is the only programme of its kind in Ireland. Since its inception in 2006, the programme has honoured approximately 100 outstanding student volunteers from 75 schools across the country.
“Over the past five years, Pramerica Spirit of Community has given us the opportunity to meet many outstanding youth ambassadors who are actively changing the lives of others. We’re proud to honour and recognise such inspiring young people who never ask for praise, payment, or even a pat on the back for the great work they do,” said Henry McGarvey, managing director, Pramerica Systems Ireland Ltd.
Principals will review the applications and nominate one student in the junior category (for students up to age 16 ) and one student in the senior category (for students 17 to 19 years old ).
In February, a judging panel will select 20 finalists who will each receive a certificate of merit, €500, an engraved silver medallion, and an invitation to the gala awards dinner to be held in Derry on March 28. Two All-Ireland Youth Volunteers of the Year will be selected at the awards dinner. Each will receive €1,000 for a charity of his/her choice, a gold medallion, and an all-expenses paid trip to the United States to attend the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards ceremony.
