Foxford teen features on RTÉ 2’s Mission Beach

America's toughest lifeguard school has, once again, allowed eight Irish teens to join it, for one challenging summer that they will never forget - with just three weeks to qualify. It is a gruelling course, headed by lifeguard veteran and task master, coach Chris. And this time he is even tougher.

Jessica Tighe is from Foxford and is one of four 16-year-olds girls who took part.

Straight talking Jessica is a country girl through and through, and hates anything that is girly and pink. Sport-wise, she is an accomplished equestrian, beating the best of the best in tournaments around Ireland. But can her fearless determination and winning streak continue in Florida? Or does a fear of heights and a rebellious nature create problems for her with the tough no-nonsense approach of coach Chris? Readers can tune into RTÉ 2 every Friday at 5.30pm from October 14 to see how she gets on.

In Mission Beach a new crew of Irish teens will be pushed to their physical and mental limits. Will they manage to impress coach Chris or will they fall apart? And will any of them manage to pass the toughest lifeguarding course in America? Tasting as much of the Florida life as possible; there is romance, revelry, and even the most bling of parties, an all American prom.

For most, it is their first experience of living away from home and among people their own age. For all, it is a truly unforgettable experience. Mission Beach is the ultimate mix of working hard to achieve goals while having fun and learning amazing new skills, where the dream of an American lifestyle meets the discipline of a tough Lifeguard Summer School. The friendships they make, the bonds they create, and the relationships they form, will stay with them forever.

Mission Beach is produced by Rival Media for RTÉ and commences on RTÉ 2, today (Friday ) at 5.30pm.
